About
Kiaro is a digital wellness platform designed to help older adults build sustainable fitness habits through accessible, engaging, and community-driven experiences. The project focused on transforming research insights into practical design solutions that improve motivation, confidence, and long-term participation in physical activity.
Through user research, usability testing, survey analysis, and iterative design, Kiaro was developed to address common barriers older adults face when engaging with online fitness programs, including technology anxiety, motivation challenges, and a lack of personalized support. The result is a welcoming platform that blends fitness, wellness, social connection, and progress tracking into one cohesive experience.
The Challenge
Many fitness platforms are designed for younger, tech-savvy audiences and often overlook the accessibility, motivation, and support needs of older adults. Research revealed challenges related to navigation complexity, accountability, program personalization, and maintaining engagement over time. Users wanted a platform that felt simple, encouraging, and tailored to their individual fitness journeys.
The Solution
Kiaro was redesigned as a mobile-first wellness experience that prioritizes simplicity, motivation, and accessibility. Key features include personalized fitness recommendations, progress tracking, community engagement tools, wellness resources, reminders, achievements, and guided onboarding experiences.
The platform was designed to reduce friction, support habit formation, and create a stronger sense of accomplishment through clear feedback and meaningful milestones. Research findings informed every design decision, ensuring the experience aligned with real user needs and behaviors.
